In order for their to be enough homes for every cat born and alive today, every person in America would need to own 7 cats. That means for my family of six, we would have to own 42. So say by some miracle, all Americans take responsiblity today and gather up our 7 cats, what happens to the ones born tomorrow? |

UPDATE 4/8/06: I am going to keep Alyse. She hasn't bit me anymore. She is starting to check things out a little more. She hasn't really warmed up to my husband yet. She will let him pet her. As soon as I sit down she is on my lap and follows me from room to room. She seems happy. Oh and I think I am changing her name to izzyB. Saw it on a program short for Isabelle. I have always thought it was cute. Thanks for your help. I think she will be a great little friend for us. - Linda ALYSE is a very affectionate sweet mane coon mix. She's very small for a mane coon. She was living in a feral colony off 5th avenue when picked up the summer of 2004. She appeared to have been dumped there as she was too affectionate for a feral cat. She has a beautiful tabby/tiger striped coat w/ med to long hair w/ the mane coon wisps coming out of her ears. She is very small and doesn't have a full tail (appears to have been born that way). She loves to be petted and is very flexible/adaptable to new situations. She loves to be held and is very affectionate. She is still young. She would do well w/ children. Litter box trained. She's FIV/FELV negative, UTD shots and spayed. Soon to be microchipped. 2 yr 1 month old Tiny (<10 lbs.) Female Maine Coon.

BRUTUS Large boned gorgeous medium haired male, 3-5 yrs old. I am a content, proud creature. not much for the fussying of people, I like a warm window, the arm of a couch, a few good meals and to be pet once in awhile but i'm a low maintneance fella. if your looking for a lap cat who likes to be brushed & fussed over, i am not for you. I don't like kids, I don't like a boisterous home. I'm not scared or skiddish. I don't mind other cats but I could do without them. I 've never seen a dog but from what I hear, they are not for me. I'm looking for an adult to spend some time with. I won't bother you, i don't spray, I don't destroy things, I don't really do much of anything, maybe just every now and again, you and I can catch a late night show together or share a steak... ok, ok, you can't blame me for trying. I'm what you might call a 'mans' cat. and handsome if I do say so myself, did you SEE my picture? what are you waiting for? get your phone. I'm ready for that steak... I mean.. uh, those late night shows : ) |

GRETCHEN
Gretchen is Lindy's sister.
She was also a feral kitten pickup. She's a beautiful
tabby/calico mix. She was also born around April/may. She
took a little longer than Lindy to come around but she has
and is doing wonderfully! She also loves attention. She
loves to sit next to you and loves to head butt. She purrs
every time I go into the room. She also had a bad eye--also
an eye infection before I was able to trap her. It also had
scarred over (like Lindy's) and I couldn't fix it. I
couldn't leave either of them out there when I thought that
they had a chance to come around and get a good home. She's
FIV/FELV negative, up on shots and soon to be spayed. She is
a beautiful cat and I think the eye scar makes her all the
more special. It doesn't affect her function at all! She
still climbs w/ the best of them |

JD
neutered male
stray. He was very sick and injured when he found someone
that finally gave him food and helped him some. His eye was
injured. He has been vaccinated and treated for fleas/ticks
with frontline. It appears as if he was an inside cat at one
time. He craves attention and would love to have a place to
make his home. He is well behaved inside. He uses his litter
box perfectly (as do most cats when their litter box is
cleaned regularly!!)

KATIE is a sweet cat. She has nursed two liters (at the same time!)-taking on an extra one when their mom wouldn't allow herself to be trapped. She's very sweet and loves to sit with you, cuddle, be turned upside down and held. She'll put her head on your shoulder to be loved on. She'd make a wonderful pet. She's a quiet cat. She's disease free, up-to-date on shots and spayed. She was taken from a poorer family in Claxton where she and her kittens were in danger of being killed by dogs. She had a terrible eye infection initially but it is completely cleared. She takes a little time to adjust to new surroundings but is getting better and better. Would make a wonderful pet.

PAIGE AND STEELE Paige was picked up at the Food Lion off Asheville Hwy about September of 2002. She was around 4-5 months old and very feral at the time. She has really come around. She's sweet and approaches me for loving now. She's spayed, UTD shots, dewormed. Steele (and his buddy Hunter) belonged to a woman in the Navy. She was called up for active duty in January and needed to place both of them. Steele took a little time to adjust but has now and is very comfortable. He's a quiet cat, slightly shy but loves to watch the others. He's friendly though. He would do well with more attention. He's neutered, UTD shots, dewormed. |

TINNIE was born around the 4th week of March, 2002 to a feral mom from the Farmers Market, nursed by Katie also. He is a beautiful yellow tabby kitten. He is shy and quiet but does love to play. He really needs to be adopted out w/ another kitten or cat. He has really bonded with MORRIS and also his liter mates. He doesn't like to be held but likes to curl up next to you. He will need someone who is willing to give him a chance. He will need patience.

*FERAL "Feral cats are the 'wild' offspring of domestic cats and are primarily the result of pet owners' abandonment or failure to spay and neuter their animals, allowing them to breed uncontrolled. Feral cat 'colonies' can be found behind shopping areas or businesses, in alleys, parks, abandoned buildings, and rural areas. They are elusive and do not trust humans. Many people assume their animals will survive when they move away and leave them behind. Contrary to popular belief, domestic animals do not automatically return to their "natural" instincts and cannot fend for themselves! Already, U.S. animal shelters are forced to kill an estimated 15 million homeless cats and dogs annually. The alternative to humane euthanasia for almost every stray is a violent end or slow, painful death. Many "throwaways" die mercilessly outdoors from starvation, disease, abuse --- or as food to a predator. A pair of breeding cats, which can have two or more litters per year, can exponentially produce 420,000 offspring over a seven-year period, And the overpopulation problem carries a hefty price tag. Statewide, more than $50 million (largely from taxes) is spent by animal control agencies and shelters for cat-related expenses. " Feral Cat Coalition ![]()
